HF Mobile...The Saga Continues

Just when I thought everything was coming together both in the shack and the mobile, things started to fall apart this week.

First of all, I didn't have time to operate at all as family matters took up much of my weekend. First my wife started college courses again this week, and I took some time to help her get to and from campus along with reviewing some of her course work.

Secondly, one of the many computers in the shack, (this being the one that handles my weather page www.norwalkweather.com) stopped uploading to the internet for a few days. Luckily all that was needed was to pull the LAN cable at the computer and the router and things started working again.

Lastly, the mobile situation. I was hoping to get those pictures of the mobile posted this week but that was not to be. First on the way home from work last Monday, the HS Sidekick leaned over (most likely due to the weight of the Hot Rodz), so as I mentioned in an earlier post, I reverted back to the stock whip and all seems to be fine again.

Secondly, the 706 along with the N2VZ Turbo Tuner tuned up ok on Monday morning and then Tuesday failed to tune at all. I have checked cables etc, and even tried the unit with another 706 to rule out a radio problem. Maybe I'm just bug bitten, since the TT seems like a nice unit and I love the way it tunes the Sidekick with the push of the Tuner button. I also haven't been able to find any other information from anyone having the problems I have. I have sent an email to Bill N2VZ to see what options I may have, my guess at this point is the processor may have been corrupted. Hopefully I'll have news on that later this week.

Tomorrow though is the big day in our house, as my wife will hopefully be attending a VE session as she tries to earn her Technician license. She is studying really hard and making excellent progress and I hope to have time later today (after getting some sleep) to go over some last minute studying with her.
