I finally did it! I spent the better part of the last two days tearing apart the radio room. I moved the desk out of the corner and closer to the window. This allows me to move the Noaaport server rack into the corner and as a side benefit direct access to the conduit where all the RF cables enter the room. The hardest part of this project was the pile of wires and cable that had accumulated over the last 5 years. Most of which were dc power cords and rs-232 cables. Most are now boxed up waiting for the next project. I am now only using two computer monitors for 5 machines so that is a big space savings. In the picture above, the Noaaport Server machines are off camera to the right. On the desk the amateur radio gear is on the right. Just behind the rack you will find two computers, one which runs my weather station software and aprs, the other is running GR3 which produces the nice radar that can be found at norwalkweather.com and ctskywarn.com. The monitor in front of the two keyboards is connected to four machines via a kvm switch. This monitor allows access to the Noaaport Ingest Computer, Noaaport Production Server, Gempak Workstation and the GR3 Radar Computer. So many less wires to deal with having one monitor, keyboard and mouse! I have the Icom 756 ProII hooked up for listening. I think I can tune up on the vertical but most likely will not be on the air until the tower is recabled and can support itself safely again. That is the next project....just waiting for some cool July air !To learn more about Noaaport and NBSP visit Noaaport.net
