Just when you think everything is working.....Mr Murphy rears his ugly head! The cable for interfacing the computer to the FT-847 arrived on Saturday and Monday being my day off I had a chance to get it hooked up and running. So far so good. Early in the evening I'm expecting a satellite pass and have everything ready to go with SatPC32 steering the antennas and controlling the 847. Well about 1 minute into the pass I look away from the monitor and G5400B control box and then look back to find everything dark. No power. Pulled the fuse and it was blown. First time that has happened since the rotor went up in '93. Of course I didn't have a spare on hand so today I'll get a spare and hope it was a one time thing and not something that is going to require more investigative work. Why couldn't I have picked a simple hobby like stamp collecting?
Update: It appears to be a problem with the azimuth rotor. I installed a new fuse and was able to lower the antennas from about 45 degrees to 0 degrees. However this evening when I went to start turning the antennas the fuse popped immediately. Not sure what to do at this point.
