G-5500 ready to go on the roof
Just when you think you are about to catch up on projects mother nature throws a curve ball at you! I received the Yaesu G5500 rotor last week and over the last several days with the help of a good friend got the connectors soldered to the cable and the rotor calibrated. Well as you may have heard mother nature brought a good bit of October snow to the North-East and I'm not so sure it will be gone before my weekend is over. Being that the satellite antennas are on the roof, that is a big problem for pulling the G-5400 down and putting the G-5500 in its place. Also going to need a third helper to lower the mast to roof level to change the rotor. With the clock change next Sunday to Eastern Standard Time it will make it tougher as my days off don't mesh with the rest of the world and waiting until 5PM to get help with this project isn't going to work with the early sunset. If that isn't enough we do need calm winds so as not to fly off the roof! So if this doesn't happen in the next two weeks no satellite ops until mid to late spring 2012
