The saga of installing HF into the new vehicle has finally ended! A local ham stopped by today and we took some measurements and found that the SO-239 connector going through the mounting plate was not grounded. A quick trip to the hardware store and few washers and that problem was solved. The last issue was what appeared to be a good piece of coax but still no luck with tuning. We swapped in another piece and the antenna tunes quite nicely. A closeup of the mount is to the left with pictures of the antenna mounted on vehicle below.
