Nice Weather & Satellite Fun

Here in the NE the weather is going to be rather mild for mid-January so that means that the deep freeze is most likely around the corner! With that in mind, and hopefully a little sunshine I may try and reposition one of the antennas to look at a satellite well out over the Atlantic. Not that I'm that interested in the programming, but its a challenge with a 25 degree elevation! With the leaves off the trees it shouldn't be too bad, just might take awhile to unfreeze the bolts on the dish.

My backup plan is something that I have been working on for close to a month. I picked up a new receiver last summer called the Geosat microHD. It's very small and is mounted under the TV in the bedroom. I have been trying to get it hooked up to my Slingbox since it blindscans quite nicely but ran into a catch! I needed to split the remote eye input into the slingbox and of course it required cobbling together several adapters. The key adapter I need is a 3.5mm jack to 2.5mm plug. Very difficult to find and the ads for these adapters are sometimes are not quite clear on which end is which.  I think I found what I needed and it should come in the mail this week.  Not really big plans but its fun to get outside when it warms into the 40's in January!
