Noaaport Downlink Followup

Sorry for the long delay since my last posting. The Noaaport Downlink antenna that I installed is working quite well. Nice to finally have a dish at ground level. We had some strong winds last week and the antenna held up quite well, with no noticeable movement on the pipe. Those of you who are familiar with my various projects, will remember that my roofmount satellite dish is prone to twisting in high winds, and of course that usually happens during the winter when its cold and snowy and sometimes impossible to get back to the roof to fix things.

Back to the Noaaport project. All is running fairly well, with a few periodic computer snags. I hope sometime over the winter to start automaticially posting some of the data to the CTSkywarn.com web site. The next thing to work on is to install Linux into one of my computers and begin to get weather data flowing to that box. Right now as we head into the long winter, all this looks so easy to accomplish. Work and family may slow things down yet again. I just hope technology doesn't get ahead of me before I finish these projects!
